By coincidence, Jason and Tammy are continuing a couple of
themes. After being married in a historic church in the maple trees,
friends and family will join the new Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich at the Maple
Club for a dinner and dance reception. The Maple Club, located just
south of Lincoln, is also rich with history.
The
Maple Club’s history stretches back to Prohibition when Al Capone is said
to have hung out at the roadhouse. Big Bands played at the Maple
Club during the 1930s and 1940s making it a trendy night spot for dancing
and entertainment. In 1988 The Maple Club was renovated and reopened
as a dinner theater. During the renovation an arched plaster of paris
bandshell was discovered. This must have been where big bands such
as the Tiny Hill Orchestra played.
Tammy
and Jason didn’t have a hard decision when choosing a reception site.
Of course since Tammy had lived in Lincoln for over eleven years, she had
attended dinner shows and special meals several times. A couple of
months after they started to date, Jason joined Tammy at a delicious retirement
dinner for a friend. Then last summer, the two ate lunch at Vintage
Fair about once a week. (Joyce owns both The Maple Club and Vintage
Fair.) They love Joyce’s food.
